Fortisip Compact is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision. Fortisip Compact is a high energy (2.4kcal/ ml), nutritionally complete, ready to drink, milk shake style nutritional supplement, for the management of disease related malnutrition. Fortisip Compact can be used to supplement the diet of patients unable to meet their nutritional requirements from other foods, or used as a sole source of nutrition.

Water, glucose syrup, milk proteins, vegetable oils, tri potassium citrate, emulsifier (soy lecithin), flavour (vanilla), magnesium hydrogen phosphate, choline chloride, potassium chloride, acidity regulator (citric acid), tri sodium citrate, sodium L-ascorbate, ferrous lactate, zinc sulphate, nicotinamide, DL-a-tocopheryl acetate, colouring (curcumin), retinyl acetate, copper gluconate, sodium selenite, manganese sulphate, chromium chloride, calcium D-pantothenate, D-biotin, cholecalciferol, pteroylmonoglutamic acid, thiamin hydrochloride, pyridoxine hydrochloride, sodium molybdate, sodium fluoride, riboflavin, phytomenadione, potassium iodide, cyanocobalamin.

FORTISIP COMPACT IS GLUTEN FREE.

Indications

For enteral use only. ACBS approved, prescribable on Form FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the following indications:

  • short bowel syndrome
  • intractable malabsorption
  • pre-operative preparation of undernourished patients
  • inflammatory bowel disease
  • total gastrectomy
  • dysphagia
  • bowel fistulae
  • disease related malnutrition
Contraindications

Not for intravenous use. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Not suitable for patients with galactosaemia.

Precautions

Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition in children under 6 years of age. Monitor fluid intake to ensure adequate hydration status.

Fortisip Compact is best served chilled. Shake well before opening.

Storage

Store in a dry, cool place (5-25°C). Shake well before use. Once opened store bottles in a refrigerator for a maximum of 24 hours.

Shelf Life

9 months. Best before date: see side of bottle.
